There are plenty of wonderful walks and bike rides on your doorstep – no need to take the car. You can even walk from your doorstep to Sheringham Park should you wish. There are tennis courts near the village square and the fishing pond is about a 10-minute walk away, through the woods (fishing needs to be booked at reception). A short walk through the woods and along the steam train line brings you to the village square, beyond which are playing fields and play equipment to keep the children amused. You can even walk through the woods to Kelling Railway Halt where you can hail the train to stop! If keeping fit is your thing, there is a fitness trail, the start is located just before the village square, and many miles of stunning countryside to walk and cycle around and, of course, you can book a session in the health centre gym and pool. The nearby beaches offer a mix of huge expanses of peacefulness to bucket and spade seaside resorts and Cromer Pier, modern, exceptional dining to traditional fish and chips – not forgetting the famous Cromer Crab of course. There is also an excellent selection of artisan producers, including Back to the Market, a large farm shop just the other side of Holt, for those who wish to show off their culinary skills! For history lovers there are some historic homes within a short drive and the Deep History Coast can be found at Weybourne Beach, a five minute drive away. Kelling Heath also caters for stargazing, with organised events for experienced and budding astronomers alike. And, finally, if you want some more culture or just a great shopping trip, the beautiful city of Norwich is within an hour’s drive.
